Q

What is the ammonia used for

A
  • nitric acid by the Ostwald process
  • also you can react ammonia with nitric acid to get ammonium nitrate
  • ammonium nitrate is a good fertiliser

Q

Why is pressure increase during the haber process

A

As the higher pressure favours the forward reaction, so the pressure is set high to get the best % yield

Q

Why is the temperature increased during the haber process

A
  • increasing the temp means that the equilibrium will move the wrong was
  • however a higher temp increase rate of reaction, so they ONLY increase the temp to speed up the reaction
