Why is carbon dioxide used in fizzy drinks
A
- it’s slightly soluble in water
- When you open the can the CO2 escapes creating bubbles

Why carbon dioxide used in fire extinguishers
A
- CO2 is more dense than air so sinks into the flames
- This stops the O2 reaching the fire, pushing out the flames
