Q

what can cause sensineural deafness ?

A

1) natural process of aging
- cochlea = presbycusis
- acoustic trauma = sound pollution , music too high ( high notes lost )
- Menieres disease

2) Cochlear nerve acoustic neuroma
3) Central auditory pathway which is rare

Q

What does the rhinne’s test do and show ?

A
Compares air and bone conduction:
- 512 hertz tuning fork
- Positive ( air >bone )
- Negative (bone>air )
normal hearing has air > bone = +
  • test => conductive deafness
