Q
Describe the process of digestion.
(6 stages)
A
- Food is mechanically digested.
- Food becomes bolos and is transported through the esophagus into the cardiac region of the stomach.
- The stomach carries out chemical digestion, turning the bolos into chyme.
- Chyme leaves the stomach through the cardiac sphincter into the small intestine.
- The small intestine absorbs nutrients, passing the residue into the large intestine. Then the large intestine absorbs residual fluid and some nutrients.
- Faeces is passed through the anus.
