Q

Describe the process of digestion.
(6 stages)

A
  1. Food is mechanically digested.
  2. Food becomes bolos and is transported through the esophagus into the cardiac region of the stomach.
  3. The stomach carries out chemical digestion, turning the bolos into chyme.
  4. Chyme leaves the stomach through the cardiac sphincter into the small intestine.
  5. The small intestine absorbs nutrients, passing the residue into the large intestine. Then the large intestine absorbs residual fluid and some nutrients.
  6. Faeces is passed through the anus.
