The muscular layer of the heart.
What is endocardium?
A friction-free sheet that allows blood cells to move through the heart.
What is an ECG?
An electrocardiogram.
What is the function of an ECG?
To read the electrical signals of the heart.
What is the function of valves within the heart?
To prevent backflow and the direction of blood flow.
What is it called when the heart fills with blood?
Diastole.
What is it called when the heart pumps blood out?
Systole
What are the components of the cardiovascular system?
- Veins
- Capillaries
- Arteries
- Bone marrow
- Heart
What is the function of arteries?
To carry oxygenated blood away from the heart.
What is the function of veins?
To carry deoxygenated blood to the heart.
What are the chambers of the heart?
Atria, left and right.
Ventricles, left and right.
What is the function of the cardiovascular system?
To transport oxygenated blood to the body systems providing energy and pump deoxygenated blood to the lungs.
