The Demands Of Performance Flashcards
What 2 types of injury when training for the run might James experience?
Internal- within his body- such as an overuse or sudden movement eg. Hamstring strain while running because of incorrect technique
External- from outside james’ control eg. Colliding with another runner
How could James avoid injuries?

What might tension cause?
Stress can cause muscles to tighten leading to injury eg. A poor technique and a muscle pull
Why might James’ motivation change?
Stress can decrease motivation for an activity. James therefore may not try very hard
What is fatigue?

What effect would fatigue have on James?
It would cause him to reduce his speed or stop completely.
It can also lead to a loss of concentration, coordination, reduced motivation to continue, dehydration, and poor technique, which can all lead to injury and a drop in performance levels
