Q

What was the crisis of the Yorkist succession in 1483

A

The crisis of the Yorkist succession in 1483 was purely the making of the Yorkist party as they faced no outside threat
divisions in the party had been created by the actions of E4 who gave excessive favour to Elizabeth and the Woodville family

the Woodvilles had exclusive control over Edward Sons
Edward Prince of Wales and Richard Duke of York

Q

What did Gloucester Fear?

A

In the North Edward also increased the power of his brother Gloucester who held estates and power at unprecedented levels
Gloucester feared a royal minority dominated by the Woodville family

However, he was not the only one who hated the Woodville’s as seen with the Duke of Buckingham and Lord Hastings

the existence of these rivalries made it possible for Gloucester to seize the throne in July 1483
