The Cold War was a time of hostility and tension between the 2 superpowers, USA and USSR. A cause of crises and conflicts in international relations

Political differences, post war disagreements, the Truman doctrine and the Marshall plan
What were the differences between the USA and USSR at the time?
The US had an democracy and preferred capitalism while the USSR had a dictatorship and preferred communism
What were the disagreements after WWII that led to the Cold War
The Soviet Union took control of countries in Eastern Europe, creating a buffer zone with the west (satellite states) and Churchills iron curtain speech
What was the Truman doctrine?
The Truman doctrine was created by president Truman which meant the US would help any governments threatened by communism
What was the Marshall plan?
The Marshall plan helped economic recovery in Europe after WWII, Stalin believed the Truman doctrine and the Marshall plan were threats against the Soviet Union
