What was feudalism
It was when rulers divided land among their followers in return for loyalty and taxes
How was land on a manor split?
Land was divided into 3 fields and then into strips which belonged to families
How did noble families create good relationships between them?
Noble families married their children with one another for a good relationship between them
What were the main duties of the lord and lady of the castle?
The lord managed the land and went hunting while the lady taught the children and instructed the servants
What were advantages of living in a town
People lived in towns as there were more jobs and people to trade with
What was the function of a craft guild
A craft guild set standards for the quality of work, set prices and wages, decided who could trade and cared for old and sick members
Why did people become monks and nuns in the Middle Ages?
People became monks and nuns to be closer to god
Why was illness so common?
Illness was common because people lived close together and medicine was not very developed
What impact did the Black Death have on Europe?
It resulted in the death of 1/3 of Europes population and the fall of the feudal system
