Why did the age of exploration begin? (Causes)

A

New ships: the Caravel ship was developed, which was faster and stronger than before

New technology: new developments in navigation like compasses and quadrants helped sailors on long journeys

To find a new route to the east: after the ottomans captured Constantinople, Europeans could no longer travel to the east

To increase a country’s wealth

To spread Christianity
