properties of a red blood cell

A
  • carries oxygen from the lungs to the blood
  • have no nucleus which creates more room for oxygen
  • their shape is a biconcave shape for more surface area
  • In the lungs, oxygen binds to haemoglobin ( red pigment) to form oxyhaemoglobin. this then splits in the body tissues to release oxygen to cells
