A

Pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs to take in oxygen. The blood then returns to the heart

A

Pumps oxygenated blood to the rest of the body and the deoxygenated blood returns to the heart to be pumped to the lungs again

How does the heart pump around blood

A

1) blood flows through the two atria from the vena cava and the pulmonary vein
2) the atria contracts and pushes the blood into the ventricles
3) The ventricles contracts and pushes the blood into the pulmonary artery and aorta
4) the blood is carried to the organs and returns through the veins
5) the atria starts to fill up again and the cycle starts over

What is a pacemaker

A

A small group of cells in the right atrium cause small electric impulses to cause the muscle cells to contract. They control your heart rate

What is an artificial pacemaker

A

It is used when someone has an irregular heartbeat or their pacemaker doesn’t work. It is a device that has a wire going into the heart and it produces an electric current to keep your heart beating regularly
