The cardiac cycle Flashcards
what happens in late diastole phase of the cardiac cycle
both sets of chambers are relaxed ventricles fill passively
what happens during atrial systole
atrial contraction forces a small amount of blood into the ventricles
what happens during isovolumic ventricular contraction
1st phase of ventricular contraction, it pushes AV valves shut but there is still not enough pressure to open the semilunar valves
how would you calculate pulse pressure
systolic pressure subtract diastolic pressure
what does the A wave represent
right atrial contraction, occurs just after the P wave
what does the C wave represent
C wave occurs due to isovolumic ventricular contraction forcing the tricuspid valve to bulge upwards into the RA
what does the V wave represent
v wave forms from the RA continuing to fill during late ventricular systole
