what investigations would you do for stable angina
- Bloods
- CXR- may show other causes of chest pain
- ECG may show evidence of prior MI or LVH
- exercise tolerance tests
- Myocardial perfusion imaging
- CT angiography
what are you looking for in myocardial perfusion imaging
if myocardium is normal, normal myocardium will take up the tracer and it will not be seen
when would you carry out an invasive angiography
if strong positive ETT
if diagnosis not clear after non-invasive tests
what is the treatment strategy for stable angina
Address risk factors: cholestorol,lifestyle.BP.DM
medical treatment for disease progression and symptoms
revascularisation- if symptoms not controlled
in terms of medical treatment what drugs could be used to slow disease progression
statins
ACEI
Aspirin
in terms of medical treatment what drugs could be used to relieve symptoms
B blockers
CCB
Nitrates
