- A grand jury must decide if a case should go to trial
- A person cannot be tried twice for the same crime
- Protects people from being forced to testify against themselves
- Citizens have the right to private property that the government can’t take without due process

- The defendant has the right to a lawyer (or public defender) and to bring their own witnesses to trial
