What was the cause of the French and Indian War?
France and England fought over land and control of trade with Native Americans.

What were some of the advantages and disadvantages of Britain?
Advantages: Large population, organized militia, and a strong navy.
Disadvantages: No Native American allies.

Advantages: strong alliances with Native Americans.
Disadvantages: small population, few troops in Canada.

The war ended when England and France signed a peace treaty in Paris.
What did Britain gain from the Treaty of Paris?
All land from the Atlantic to the Mississippi River.
What did France gain and lose from the Treaty of Paris?
France lost Louisiana to Spain, but they kept Haiti and a couple of islands and the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

The American colonists were forbidden to cross the Appalachian mountains.
What happened because of the Proclamation of 1763?
- It created tension between Britain and the colonies because Britain had placed additional taxes on the colonists to pay for defending the 13 Colonies.

What is Taxation without Representation?
The colonists argued that they had no representation in Parliament. So Parliament had no right to tax them.
