feeling like choking so the brains tem wakes you up
How do CPAP machines work
need continuous positive air pressure to stop the back of throat from folding back on trachea

bladder training (kegel)

What is overflow incontinence?
urinary retention
bladder is always full but does not want to release
What is the approach for overflow incontinence?
smooth muscle stimulant
tamsulosin
finasteride
surgical
What does finasteride do?
decrease 5 a reductase enzyme
helps reduce retention
What does tamsulosin do?
a adrenergic antagonist
will dilate
helps decrease retention
What are some drugs that cause DI urinary incontinence?
anti-cholinergic action –> help with overactive
anti-cholingeric s/e –> worsens overflow
ditropan –> used for OAB but CI for overflow
What is our role in incontinence?
finding the right size (if asked)
pt don’t have to suffer
watch out for DI
What is our role in ostomy care?
getting supplies to pharmacy to give to pt
What are bulb syringes used for?
you can help get out snot from the nose of children
also can get saline to put in then use this to take out (after waiting a little bit)

doesnt matter what feels better
just clean the cool more often
