What can be used for tinnitus?
first try to remove ear wax
serc (H1 agonist, H3 antagonist)
- betahistine dihydrochloride
Antivert (antihistamines)
- used for motion sickness (now used for vertigo)
Is it okay if the ear tubes on a kid fall out?
yes it has been more than 1 week it is the natural thing, unless Md gave timeline on how long, then contact them
What is otitis externa?
having the infection on the outer ear, tends to be more painful and swollen in the ear canal
What OTC can be used for otitis externa?
polysporin Ear or eye
Eye has more antibiotics
but ear has lidocaine
What is the Rx for otitis externa?
ciprodex and locacorten
What to do about seborrhea of ear canal?
try the sclap and other parts too, same treatment, dont push into the ear just clean the outside
use antifungal agents
If it is just the ear canal what is the regiment for seborrhea? If scalp is involved too?
clean with soap –> antifungal twice weekly
if get Rx ciclopirox –> BID
if scalp too then twice a week like top
What to do if a boil in the ear canal?
treat like normal boil and clean and watch it, if it is ready and you can reach it, you can pop it
What can help with pressure changes and ear pain?
oral decongestants might help
gum chewing
hold nose then equalize the pressure
What can be a cause of an ear ache?
ear infection
change in air pressure
earwax build up
What can be used for ear ache?
auralgan –> benzocaine
antipyrine
might work use several times a day
