We celebrate that Christ is the king of the universe, He saved us from evil and brings us new life.
What is a patriarch?
A father or founder of a clan, or a group of related families

Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph.
What are matriarchs?
They are important women in God’s family
What are the four Old Testament matriarchs?
They are, Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, and Leah. 
How long did the patriarch and matriarchs live for?
They live from 1900 BC to about 1650 BC 
Where did the matriarchs and patriarchs live in?
They lived in tents and roamed an occupied territory
Where is Canaan?
Canaan was an area in western Palestine that included most of present-day Israel 
What were the inhabitants of Canaan called?
They were called Canaanites
Who are our ancestors in faith?
matriarchs (Sarah, Rebekah, and Leah)

What is Faith?
A gift from God that enables us to believe in him, and except all that he has revealed
What do the people following God try to do?
They try to follow God‘s command and to follow where God leads them
What did God tell Abram? 
He told him to leave his kinsfolk, and travel to Canaan, God promise to Abram and his descendants
Who was Abram and Sarai and how many children did they have?
Abram was 75 years old and his wife Sari could not have children
How did God strengthen and purify Abram, and Sarai’s faith ?
Abram and Sarai were obedient to God even though he tested them repeatedly.
What was the covenant between God and Abram? 
Abram and his descendants agreed to serve and follow God, and return God will send Abraham and Sarai a son named Isaac
How did God indicate that Abram and Sarai we’re starting a new life?
God changed their names to Abraham and Sarah
After Abraham had his son, how did God’s test Abraham?
God asked Abraham to offer his son up as a holocaust (sacrifice), Abraham did what God asked, so God spared Isaac at the last moment.
What did Isaac, Abraham’s son, do when he got older?
He inherited his fathers position as a patriarch and married a woman named Rebekah. They eventually had twin sons Esau, the elder and Jacob younger.
By ancient law, Esau was supposed to inherit the patriarch role from Isaac but what what happened instead?
God wanted Jacob to become the next patriarch
What did Rebekah and Jacob trick Isaac into doing?
They tricked Isaac into giving his blessing to Jacob 
What happened to Jacob after he and Rebeka tricked Isaac?
He had fled to Haran because Esau his older brother wanted to kill his him 
What did God assure, Jacob?
God assured Jacob that he would inherit Canaan, and that God would always protect him
What is Providence?
God’s plan for and protection of all creation
Who is Joseph?
The last of the patriarchs, and only had contact with God through dreams
Jacob loved Joseph more than his other sons. Joseph’s brothers hated him so much. What did they do him?
They sold him as a slave to a passing caravan of merchants. The merchants, sold Joseph to the pharaoh, the king of Egypt.
How did Joseph become closer with the Egyptian pharaoh?
The Joseph realized that he could interpret dreams. Joseph helped the pharaoh, interpret his dreams, and he was very pleased with Joseph. The Pharaoh was so pleased with Joseph that he made him manager of his kingdom.
What did Joseph predict would happen to Cannan? What did he do?
Joseph predicted a great famine would hit Cannan. He then gathered his family to leave Canan and headed to Egypt were they heard food was plentiful.

After Jacob left, what did he do?
Jacob married Rachel and had 12 sons
When did Jacob return?
After 20 years, Jacob came back to Canaan and reconciled with his brother
How did Jacobs name change and what did it change to?
God renewed his covenant with Jacob and change his name to Israel
What happened to Jacob when he went to Egypt?
 Joseph returned to his home, where they did not recognize him and bowed to him. He now had authority of his family and was reconciled with his brothers. God’s people found a temporary home in Egypt. 
When is the Easter Triduum?
Is between spring equinox and the rising of the full moon. The spring equinox is the day the sun crosses, the equator making day and night of equal length everywhere.
When would Easter Sunday be in the year?
Easter Sunday follows the full moon after the spring equinox
