facial or lingual caries on anterior teeth gingival to the height of contour. They can also connect to class 3’s when they wrap around to the interproximal areas.
What causes class 5 lesions?
trauma, abfraction, erosion, toothbrush abrasion, plaque accumulation ( partial denture clasps), recurrent caries.
what makes people suseptable to class 5’s?
people with poor oral hygiene, soda drinkers, gingival recession, orthodontics, sjogrens syndrome( reduced salivary flow), drugs
what can cause reduced salivary flow?
sjogrens syndrome, radiation/ chemo, medications
Whats a common cause of class 5 caries involving self cleansing?
presence of acidogenic plaque gingigal to the height of contour that isnt in a self cleansing area.

chalky white spots, these can be remineralized.
what clamp number should be used?
212, you can also use gingiva retraction cords.
what should the dimentions be of a class 5 amalgam?
incical axial depth 1.5mm
cervical axial depth 1 mm.
length mesiodistally 3mm.
height insicocervically 1.5mm
before adding amalgam what should you use?
E-on desensitizer
whats a good way to carve the amalgam?
use a hollenback and create 2 planes for initial carve. Wait to finish the carve until setting time is up

2 or 4 round bur since our internal outline needs to be rounded.
