추수감사절은 우리나라의 추석과 같은 명절인데요,
Thanksgiving Day is a traditional holiday similar to Chuseok in Korea
추수 후에 감사하는 날입니다.
It is a day of giving thanks after the harvest.
초기 이주민들이 정착을 도와준 원주민들을 초대해서 축제를 하고 칠면조를 먹었습니다.
Early immigrants invited Native Americans who helped them settle, and threw a festival and ate turkeys together.
이것이 현재의 추수감사절이 됐습니다.
This became today’s Thanksgiving Day.
추수감사절은 미국의 초대 대통령 조지 워싱턴이 1789년 처음 국경일로 정했는데, 매년 11월 네 번째 목요일에 지냅니다.
Thanksgiving Day was first designated as a national holiday by the first president of the United States, George Washington, in 1789, and it is celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday of November.
멀리 사는 가족들이 함께 모이기 때문에 교통체증이 심합니다.
Traffic congestion is severe because families living far away gather together.
한국의 추석과 비슷합니다.
It is similar to Chuseok in Korea.
명절에는 음식이 중요합니다.
Food is important on holidays.
추석에 송편을 먹는 것처럼, 추수감사절에는 칠면조를 먹습니다.
Just as people eat rice cakes during Chuseok, people eat turkeys during Thanksgiving.
칠면조 뿐만 아니라 호박파이, 으깬 감자 등도 함께 먹습니다.
