  • we also compared this to past years and resisdent surveys to compare different views

  • each factor of the environmental quality assessment was a stem of the diagram
  • consequently the larger the srea covered by the diagram the better the environmental quality
  • we did this for all 4 of the areas and this easily allowed us to make comparisons

  • anomolies wouldnt stand out as much
  • more results recorded = more reliable and accurate as sample size is increased

  • all areas of Taunton which had experienced regerneration had positive environmental quality scores
  • therefore indicating regernaertaion had been environmentally successful
  • station boulevard had the lowest rating ~ this perhaps becuase of the busy atmosphere and location in the centre of town

  • in areas where regeneration had occured there was evidence of positive environmental qualoty
  • particulary in somerset square and castle green
  • environment was poorer in busier areas
  • evidence of gentrification in newly regenerated areas

  • sites were large scale = difficult ot know where to assess = inaccuracy
  • time of day affects ~ rush hour = more traffic
  • good weather = less people in cars
  • subjective score = our opinion can be different to others

  • as we only collected data on one day it may of not been a reliable representation
  • there were roadworks present at one site which could have impacted our score and reliability
  • at the end of the day it was when schools were ending so this would have also affectedd noise and environmental scores

  • overall our conclusions are valid as we used sampling to gain a representative view of the area and to reduce bias
  • while our EQA results had potential for bias it was a subjective measure but by comparing results we made them more reliable
  • secondary data managed to help us support our conclusions making it more reliable

  • accuaracy could be improved by pin pointing exact sites to record the environmental quality data
  • the environmental quality score is quite subjective so ensuring one person from each group does the assessing reduces bias
  • by returning at a different time of day and year would increase reliability
