Task 3 Flashcards
Photosynthesis process
Is a chemical process called that uses sunlight to turn carbon dioxide and water in to sugars that cell can use as energy.
Tropic level
A category of organisms that is defined by how the organisms gain their energy.
Biomass
The total mass of living organisms in a defined area or region.
Tropic efficiency
A measure of the amount of energy or biomass transferred from one tropic level to the next higher trophic level.
Bioaccumulation
A process of which material especially toxins are ingested by an organism faster than it can be eliminated.
Biomagnification
Is the increase concentration of toxins in each organisms up the food chain.
Chlorophyl
Is a pigment they gives plants their green color and is the main player in photosynthesis.
Biosphere
The regions do earth where living organism exist.
What has poisoned Ontario lakes
Nitrogen
Primary producers
An organism like a plants that make its own energy and food.
Primary consumers
Herbivores and depend of primary producers.
Secondary consumers
Carnivores or omnivores
Tertiary consumers
Top predators
Tropic efficiency «formula»
1000 → 100 → 10 → 1 (%)
