Task 2 Flashcards
Niche
A subset of habitat where only a particular species lives.
Ecological niche
The way that an organism occupies a position in an ecosystem, including how they interact with the biotic and abiotic factors.
Bog
A type of wet land in which the water is acidic and low in nutrients.
Predator
An organism that kills or consumes other organisms.
Prey
An organisms that is eaten as a food by a predator.
Bottom-up regulation
is when the species a lower trophic level species decrease which leads to the decline of predators as well.
Bottom-up regulation
is when the species a lower trophic level species decrease which leads to the decline of predators as well.
Top-down
is when a lower trophic level species increases in population and then the predator increases in population, which then leads into the decrease of prey population.
Types of niche partitioning
- spatial niche partitioning
- dietary niche partitioning
- niche partitioning by plant height
- niche partitioning by time and grass hegjt
