Table 9-3 Flashcards

1
Q

What causes small, weak pulses?

A

Q

What caused large bounding pulses?

A
  1. Increased stroke volume, decreased peripheral resistance (fever, anemia, hyperthyroid, AV fistulas, PDA)
  2. Increased stroke volume because of slow heard rates (brady, heart block)
  3. Decreased compliance (increased stiffness) of aortic walls- aging, atherosclerosis
