T8L6b Flashcards
which version of phytochrome is active
Pfr
wavelength of pr
660nm
wavelength of pfr
730nm
Describe the cycle of Pr to Pfr and back
Pr absorbs red light (in sunlight) and is converted into Pfr.
Pfr absorbs far red light and in the presence of this/darkness is converted into Pr
Interaction between phytochromes and TFs
Phytochromes r,fr can activate or deactivate TFs which causes/prevents transcription to occur and genes to be expressed. This is how phytochromes determine whether a plant flowers or not
What is photoperiodism
The growth and development of plants in response to for what period they are exposed to light
How does photoperiodism work
Plants only flower when exposed to the right levels of light
