T7 Respiration: Krebs Flashcards
1
Q
Where does the Krebs cycle occur
A
Mitochondrial matrix
2
Q
Describe the full Krebs cycle
A
A molecule of Acetyl CoA is converted into Citrate (6C)
Citrate is converted into a 5C compound and
one CO2 is released
(One NAD is converted)
The 5C compound is converted into a 4C compound
One CO2 is released
(Two NAD are converted)
(One FAD is converted to FADH2)
(1 ATP produced)
The 4C compound is converted into Acetyl CoA
This happens twice for both molecules of Acetyl CoA
