Q

What to do if there are signs of peri-implant mucositis?

A
  • exclude presence of peri-implantitis by carrying out radiographic examination to assess peri-implant bone levels
  • treat as described in maintenance
  • reassess at future visit to ensure inflammation has settled and a stable situation has been achieved

Q

What to do when there are signs of peri-implantitis?

A
  • radiographic examination to evaluate peri- implant bone levels
  • if clinically significant progressing crestal bone is detected, refer back to clinician who placed implants
  • if not possible, then treat as described in maintenance plus:
  • follow up appt after 1-2 months to assess outcome
  • seek advice from secondary care if no improvements
  • if inflammation settled, arrange radiographic follow up in 6-12 months
