A

A
  • usually hard acrylic
  • useful in peripheral seal problems
  • inadequate master impression: correction of erros
  • immediate/ post-immediate dentures
  • prolongs lifespan of some older dentures

Rebase technique Clinical aspect

A
  • before taking imp, undercuts are removed from denture
  • wash impression taken using close mouth technique
  • imp poured in stone
  • overcast in plaster is used
  • overcast is then separated
  • denture is then removed to reveal working model
  • Post dam is carved at junction of hard and soft palate
  • fitting surface and palate removed to allow space for new acrylic
  • the cut back denture is then placed back onto overcast
  • sticky wax is used to hold denture in place
  • gaps are filled with wax
  • overcast can be removed to maintain position of denture in relation to model and maintain vertical dimension
  • palate is added in wax
