Fibrous: held together by connective tissue
Cartilagenous: joined by cartilage
Synocial: fluid filled synovial cavity, bones enclosed within a capsule, joined by various ligaments

A

Synarthrosis: immovable joints
Amphiarthrosis: semi movable
Diarthrosis: freely movable

Fibrous Joints

A

Gumphosis- hold teeth down
Suture- between cranial bone plates
Syndesmosis- helt together by fibrous ligaments ( distal radial ulnar joing, distal tibiofibular joint)

Cartilaginous

A

Synchondroses- between sternum and ribs (contain hyaline cartilage)
Symphyses- pubic symphysis, IVDs (contain fibrocartilage)

Synovial

A

Planar: carpal/tarsal bones/ between vertebrae
Hinge: elbow, knee, DIP, PIPs of foot and hand
Pivot: dens and axis, distal and proximal radioulnar joints
Condyloid: MCP and MTP joints
Saddle: joint between 1st MC and trapezium
Ball and socket: shoulder and hip
