Definiton of SIADH?
A
Negative feedback doesn’t work in pituitary gland and it keeps releasing ADH which causes low plasma osmolality which causes diluted sodium and decrease aldosterone which means decreased sodium as it will be exiting via urine.

A
Post operation from major surgery
Infection like pneumonia
Head injury
Small cell lung cancer
medications
meningitis

How to diagnose SIADH?
A
Decrease sodium + Decrease osmality in blood sample
Increase sodium + Increase osmality in urine sample

How to manage SIADH?
A
Restrict fluid intake
Increase salt + protein diet
Drugs that inhibit ADH like tolvaptan
