A

Where TSH receptor antibodies mimic TSH and stimulate the thyroid gland to release thyroid hormone. (Most common hyperthyroidism).

A

What is De queverian thryoiditis?

A

Viral infection which cause fever and neck pain + tenderness

What happens is hyperthyrodism phase then a hypothyrodism phase and then goes back to normal.

Can be treated by nsaid and beta blockers or can self heal.

What is thyroid storm?

A

Rare presentation of hyperthyroidism

Where you show symptoms of pyrexia, tachycardia, delirium.

Beta blockers given for support.

Treatment for Hyperthyroidism?

A

First line treatment = Carbimazole which will cause thyroid production to stop after 18 months then you will be switched onto levothyroxine as it artificial TSH.

Beta blockers just bring relief.
