Good basic principles for the MANAGEMENT of heath and safety for RICS M+F.
Includes H&S responsibilities:
1. At a corporate level
2. At the level of the RICS member
3. Covers property related businesses
4. Identifies moral, ethical and practical issues confronted by RICS members and regulated firms
What is the safe person concept and what is its purpose?
Each individual assumes behavioral responsibility for their own, their colleagues and others health and safety whilst at work.
Purpose:
1. Individuals who work in all environments (including high risk environments) are safe and remain healthy at all times
2. individuals accept primary responsibility for their wellbeing
What di RICS regulated firms need to do to ensure the health, safety and welfare of people at work?
Need to provide, monitor and maintain:
1. Safe working environment
2. Safe working equipment
3. Safe systems of work
4. Competent staff
Identify risks, undertake risk assessments, mitigation in place
Access to first aid, drinking water sanitation
Provide any equipment including PPE
Policies and procedures in place that staff are aware of including monitoring & reporting
Competent staff, adequate training
What are individuals safety responsibilities?
- Understanding H&S risks and making sure appropriate mitigation is in place
- Adhering to policies and proceedures
- Undertaking traning
- Keeping up to date with experience and skills
- Learning from personal experience
What is a constraints plan?
identify any physical factors that may limit or influence the design, construction or operation of a project
