What is equality?
Creating equitable opportunities and fair treatment of individuals regardless of background, characteristics and abilities. Creates a level planning field is recruitment, assessment and professional conduct.
What is the Equality Act 2010?
Brought together various ant-discrimination laws into a single act to protect individuals against unlawful treatment including direct, indirect, perceived and associated discrimination, victimization, harassment
and third party harassment in services, work, education, associations and transport .
The act provides a legal framework to protect the rights of individuals and advance equal opportunities for all.
What are the protected characteristics in the equality act?

What is discrimination and can you give some examples?
Treating someone less favourably than someone else due to protected characteristics

What are the different types of discrimination?
direct, indirect, perceived and associated discrimination
harassment and third party harassment

TPH - employer is liable for harassment if employees by someone outside of work if they are are aware that the harassment has taken place more than twice and they do nothing to prevent it
Victimization - treating somone badly because they raised a complaint under the Equality Act 2010
