Superficial Back Muscles Flashcards
What is the MA of the Latissimus Dorsi?
Extension of the shoulder, adduction of the shoulder, internal (medial) rotation of the shoulder, and raises body towards arm when climbing
What is the PA of the Latissimus Dorsi?
Inferior angle of the scapula, spinous processes of T7-T12, ribs 9-12 or 10-12, thoracolumbar fascia, and iliac crest
What is the DA of the Latissimus Dorsi?
The floor of the intertubercular sulcus of the humerus
What is the N for the Latissimus Dorsi?
Thoracodorsal nerve (C6-C8)
What is the MA of the Upper Trapezius?
Bilaterally: extension of the head and neck
Unilaterally: laterally flexion of the head and neck to the same side, contralateral rotation of the head and neck, elevation of the scapula, and upward rotation of the scapula
What is the MA of the Middle Trapezius?
Adduction of the scapula and stabilization of the scapula
What is the MA of the Lower Trapezius?
Depression of the scapula and upward rotation of the scapula
What is the PA of the Trapezius?
External occipital protuberance, superior nuchal line, ligamentum nuchae, and spinous processes of C7-T12
What is the DA of the Trapezius?
Lateral 1/3 of clavicle, acromion, and spine of scapula
What is the N for the Trapezius?
Spinal accessory nerve (CN XI) and ventral ramus C3 and C4 (pain and proprioceptive fibers)
What is the MA of the Levator Scapulae?
Unilaterally: elevation of the scapula and downward rotation of the scapula
What is the PA of the Levator Scapulae?
Transverse processes of C1-C4
What is the DA of the Levator Scapulae?
The medial border of the scapula between the superior angle and the root of the scapular spine
What is the N for the Levator Scapulae?
Cervical nerve (C3 and C4) and dorsal scapular nerve (C4 and C5)
What is the MA of the Rhomboids?
Adduction of the scapula, downward rotation of the scapula, and fixes the scapula to the thoracic wall
