Short Muscles Flashcards
What is the MA of the Lumbricals?
Flexion of digits 2-5 at the metacarpophalangeal joint
Extension of digits 2-5 at the interphalangeal joints
What is the PA of the Lumbricals?
1st and 2nd: lateral two tendons of flexor digitorum profundus (as unipennate muscles)- one muscle belly
3rd and 4th: medial three tendons of flexor digitorum profundus (as bipennate muscles)- two muscle bellies
What is the DA of the Lumbricals?
Radial sides of extensor expansions of digits 2-5
What is the N for the Lumbricals?
1st and 2nd Lumbricals: median nerve (digital branch) (C8 & T1)
3rd and 4th Lumbricals: ulnar nerve (deep branch) (C8 & T1)
What is the MA of the Palmar Interossei (PAD)?
Adduction of the 2nd, 4th, and 5th digits toward axial line
Assists lumbricals in flexing metacarpophalangeal joints of digits 2-5 and extending interphalangeal joints of digits 2-5
What is the PA of the Palmar Interossei (PAD)?
Palmar surfaces of 2nd, 4th, and 5th metacarpals (as unipennate muscles)
What is the DA of the Palmar Interossei (PAD)?
Bases of proximal phalanges and extensor expansions of 2nd, 4th, and 5th digits
What is the N for the Palmar Interossei (PAD)?
Ulnar nerve (deep branch) (C8 & T1)
What is the MA of the Dorsal Interossei (DAB)?
Abduction of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th digits from axial line
Assists lumbricals in flexing metacarpophalangeal joints of digits 2-5 and extending interphalangeal joints of digits 2-5
What is the PA of the Dorsal Interossei (DAB)?
Adjacent sides of 2 metacarpals (as bipennate muscles)
What is the DA of the Dorsal Interossei (DAB)?
Bases of proximal phalanges and extensor expansion of 2nd-4th digits
What is the N for the Dorsal Interossei (DAB)?
Ulnar nerve (deep branch) (C8 & T1)
