Brachium Muscles Flashcards
What is the MA of the Biceps Brachii?
Supination of the forearm (#1 function) and elbow flexion
Short head resists dislocation of the shoulder
Main contributor to elbow flexion when forearm is supinated
What is the PA of the Biceps Brachii?
Short Head: coracoid process
Long Head: supraglenoid tubercle & labrum
What is the DA of the Biceps Brachii?
Radial tuberosity and forearm fascia via bicipital aponeurosis
What is the N for the Biceps Brachii?
Musculocutaneous nerve (C5, C6, & C7)
What is the MA of the Brachialis?
Flexion of the elbow in all positions (humeroulnar joint)
Main contributor to elbow flexion when forearm is pronated
What is the PA of the Brachialis?
Distal anterior humerus
What is the DA of the Brachialis?
Ulnar tuberosity and coronoid process of ulna
What is the N for the Brachialis?
Musculocutaneous nerve (C5 & C6)
What is the MA of the Coracobrachialis?
Flexion & adduction of the shoulder (glenohumeral joint)
Resists dislocation of the shoulder
What is the PA of the Coracobrachialis?
Coracoid process
What is the DA of the Coracobrachialis?
Middle humerus
What is the N for the Coracobrachialis?
Musculocutaneous nerve (C5, C6, & C7)
What is the MA of the Brachoradialis?
Flexion of the elbow in mid-pronated position (thumb-up position) (humeroulnar joint)
Assists pronation and supination of the forearm when these movements are resisted/from end range (humeroradial joint)
Main contributor to elbow flexion when forearm is mid-pronated
What is the PA of the Brachoradialis?
Lateral supraepicondylar ridge of humerus
What is the DA of the Brachoradialis?
Distal lateral radius (proximal to styloid process)
