A

GREAT TERROR- army- serverly weakened- experinced officers were removed

  • lack of experience of army soldiers threatened USSR when G attacked in 1941
  • whole country weakened- many talented individuals removed from society

COLLECTIVISATION- peasants who refused to hand over food were left to starve- caused anger- protests

  • collective farming- inefficient- peasants unfamiliar with new farming methods
  • grain production initially decreased
  • famines occurred
