auctoritatem, contra rem publicam et religiones; se habebat ducem Gabinium,

A

Anaphora with asyndeton (contra on last line)
Gabinius - a Syrian praetor famously bribed by Ptolemy to crown him Pharoah in Egypt (this was objected to by the Senate and the Sybilline books which prophesised that Ptolemy was not supposed to be a Pharoah); when Gabinius was tried in Rome, Cicero defended him as a favour for General Pompey, but Gabinius was ungrateful and didn’t support Cicero when Clodius attacked him over the Catalline conspiracy; associating Mark Antony with bad people suggests he too is bad

Q

?…?…?

A

Tricolon of rhetoric questions - reinforces the interrogative tone and also this question (rather cruelly) implies that Mark Antony doesn’t have a home and therefore lacks familial values that Roman society prized.

Q

Misenum

A

Miserum was where Mark Antony owned a summer house with his mates, mainly for hoidays rather than permanent living; if this wasn’t shared by his mates, Antony would have lost this, and Cicero is trying to imply that Antony is homeless, because he doesn’t truly own anything in his own right (taboo because of the connotations homelessness has (eg a lack of loyalty, familial bonds etc)). Also it pointed out the fact that unlike the senators who all had money and publicly spent it as a display of status, Antony did not, and thereby Cicero criticises and shames him thus

Q

Sisaponem

A

Sisapo was a mine in Spain that was very well known because it was shared by so many people - he’s suggesting Antony is cheaper and commoner than he actually is
