Patient is hypertensive, tachy, confused, delirious. Diaphoresis. HEENT- Mydriasis and bruxism. Hyperthermia, seizures. What has the patient likely OD on?
Amphetamine
What can you give for agitation and tachycardia?
Benzodiazepine
A patient presents like a slug, is uncoordinated, slurred speech, staggering, shallowing breathing. Took this medication with alcohol. Can progress to coma and death.
Barbiturate and alcohol OD
Patient presents with a high temp, tachy and hypertensive. Pupils dilated and sin diaphoretic. Confused, combative.
Cocaine OD
Patient presents with bloody emesis. Patient is pale, poorly responsive. HR is tachy. Respirations are high. Hypotensive. Extremities and cold and mottled with decreased pulses. Metabolic acidosis
Ferrous sulfate OD
What is used to treat ferrous sulfate poisoning?
Deferoxamine
Patient presents tachy, hypotensive. Pupils are dilated. Skin is dry and flushed. Confused, drowsy. Dry mouth, mydriasis. Urinary retention. What type OD?
Tricyclic antidepressants
Patient presents with seizures, vomiting. Tachy, low Pulse Ox. MIcrocytic, hypochromic anemia seen on labs.
Lead poisoning
What do you give to treat lead poisoning?
EDTA + Dimercaprol
Patient presents and is hypotensive, and bradycardic. Slowed DTRs, answers questions slowly. Has metabolic acidosis.
Inhalation abuse (Toluene)
Patient presents with tachycardic, tachypnea, high temp after having aseizure. Chest x-ray shows pulmonary edema. Unresponsive to verbal stimulation and pain. Respiratory alkalosis and eventually metabolic acidosis.
Salicylate toxicity (aspirin OD)
Patient presents with diffuse abdominal pain. Feels hot, sweaty, and have a stiff neck. HIgh temp. tachycardic, tachypnea, hypertensive crisis. Muscle tightness, conjuntiva are injected. Small red area on back of neck.
