Q

What are the two ways information can be retrieved ?

A

1) RECOGNITION - info or stimulus is repeated and person compares it to what is in their memory. A multiple choice tests makes use of recognition memory.
2) CUED RECALL - a prompt or reminder, e.g. seeing an initial and remembering their name.
3) FREE RECALL - stimulus is not present and there is no cue, person retrieves info directly from memory, e.g. remembering a quote in an English exam.
