Structural and Functional Organisation (incomplete) Flashcards
List the different anatomical planes.
- Midsagittal
- Parasagittal
- Frontal/Coronal
- Transverse
- Oblique
Define anatomical position.
A stance in which a person is standing erect with their feet flat on the floor, with their palms, face and eyes facing forwards.
Which anatomical plane passes through the midline of the body, and divides it into equal right and left halves?
Midsagittal.
Which anatomical plane lies to the right of left of the midsagittal plane, and divides the body into unequal right and left portions?
Parasagittal.
Which anatomical plane extends vertically, perpendicular to the sagittal plane, and divides the body into front (anterior) and back (posterior) portions?
Frontal/Coronal.
Which anatomical plane is perpendicular to the long axis, dividing the body into superior (upper) and inferior (lower) portions?
Transverse.
Which anatomical plane passes through the body at an angle?
Oblique.
