Q

The Ph Scale:

A
  • Gives us the idea of the concentration of hydrogen ions.
  • Strong acids have a lower Ph than weaker acids for a given concentration.
  • As ph scale decreases by 1 unit the concentration of hydrogen ions increases by 10 times.
  • ## 10 x difference- One order of magnitude.

Q

What is the concentration of acids?

A
  • Amount of acid molecules in a given volume of solution.
  • Dilute acid: Fewer acid molecules in a given volume than an concentrated acid even if the strength of the acid is the same.
