What are the symptoms of a cerebral hemisphere infarct?
Controlateral hemiplegia (paralysis) - Inital flaccidy THEN rigidity
Controlateral sensory loss
Homonymous hemianopia depending on area
Dysphasia
What area of the brain would be responsible for causing dysphasia?
Area 44/45 - Brocas
Dysphasia means difficulty speech, aphasia means total loss of speech
What artery would be responsible for a stroke causing Broca’s aphasia?
MCA
What artery would be responsible for weakness and numbness of the trunk muscles down?
ACA
