A
A negative response if the body to a threat causing anxiety

A positive response of the body to a threat

A
- injury
- important games
- very good opponents
- rewards e.g. prize money, sponsorships
- fear of failure (significant others watching)

A
- Negative thoughts and feelings
- irrational thoughts
- often causes attentional narrowing (less info taken in)

What is somatic stress?
A
Physiological symptoms which may include:
- sweating, nausea, increased HR

Name one somatic stress reliever.
A
Biofeedback - using devices to recognise the physical changes that occur under stress
It measures heart rate - breathing rate, muscle tension, temperature etc
