What is the definition of attitude?
Ideas charged with emotions to produce specific behaviour
What is the definition of socialisation?
Cultural values learnt by associating with others
What is the Triadic model?
Three separate parts which affect a persons attitude.
- Cognitive
- Behavioural
- Affective
What is the cognitive stage of an individual?
The thoughts & the opinions of an individual
What is the affective stage of the triadic model?
Feelings shown by the individual
What is the behavioural stage of the triadic model?
The actions produced by the individual
What is cognitive dissonance?
Creating disharmony between the attitude of the individual and the topic in discussion
What is persuasive communication?
Giving a person in-depth info at the correct time,scenario & by the right person
What must be in place in order for persuasive communication to work effectively?
The PERSON must: -Pay attention -Understand -Accept The COACH must: -be an expert -be trustworthy The MESSAGE must: -be clear
How can negative attitudes be changed?
- Persuasion from a perceived expert
- Allowing early success
- Using positive reinforcement & rewards
- Using role models
- Cognitive dissonance
How are attitudes formed?
By associating with significant others
By familiarisation
By conditioned behaviour
