Q

How does stress cause karoshi

A

the release of cortisol over a long period of time causes the immune system to shut down, inhibits inflammation and reduces the number of white blood cells to reduce so you are more susceptible to cancer

Stress also clogs the arteries (which prevents blood from getting to the heart quickly) which might be the cause for heart attacks

Q

What is the role of telomeres during stress

A

telomere’s are located at the ends of chromosones and decrease in size every time they duplicate, when there are no more telomere’s the cell stops duplicating.

so telomere lenght is linked to the lenght of someones lifespan

stress accelerates the shortening of the telomere’s
