- one of three universities in Glasgow
- Strathclyde has a student population of 24,000. In comparison Glasgow Caledonia has a population of 18,000 and UofG had 26,000
- students make up around 10-15% of Glasgow’s population.

Anderson
A
The green portrait on strathclyde wonderwall (which we will go into more detail of shortly) is of John Anderson , the founder of Anderson college which evolved into strathclyde uni, founded in 1796
- Anderson left detailed instructions in his will with a view to founding a new university in the city, an institution that could provide an alternative to the University of Glasgow
- He expected his university would start with a small student population and grow throughout the years
- he left a comprehensive list of wishes which were carried out for him.
- perhaps most impressive was anderson’s desire to grand wider access for women

wonderwall
A
- strathclyde is glasgow’s second oldest university, receiving its royal charter in 1964. this made strathclyde the first technological university in the UK and a celebration of its 50th anniversary can be seen on the strathclyde wonderwall.
