The relation which exists between propositions having the same subject and predicate, but differing in quality, or in quantity, or both.
LOGICAL OPPOSITION
What are the four kinds of logical opposition?
CONTRADICTORY, CONTRARY, SUB-CONTRARY, SUB-ALTERN
Those having the same subject and predicate, but differ in quantity and quality. (All some, is, is not)
CONTRADICTORY
Those that have the same subject, the same predicate, and universal extension, but differ as to quality. (All - All, is, is not)
CONTRARY
Those that have the same subject, the same predicate, and particular extension, but differ as to quality. (Some, some, is, is not)
SUB CONTRARY
Those that have the same subject, the same predicate and quality, but differ as to quantity (All, some, is is, is not is not)
