Giving a word in a word in an argument are given different meanings
Equivocation
Using a phrase which obscures the true meaning of the statement which renders confusion
Amphiboly
Taking together as whole/unit what has to be taken separately.
Composition
Consists in taking separately what has to be done as a unit.
Division
Consists in giving the same meaning to words which differ in accent or pronunciation
Accent
Appeal to the masses/people’s prejudices, or appear to public prejudices rather than to reason
Argumentum ad Populum
Employs rhetoric that appeals to pity or sympathy
Argumentum ad Misericordiam
Appeals to shame; exaggerates the authority of the person who hold the opinion rather than appeal to their competence in the subject or issue.
Argumentum ad Verecundiam
Mud slinging, black propaganda, or name calling. Attack on the personality of the opponent.
Argumentum ad hominem
Fallacy of invoking the conclusion; begging the question
Circular reasoning
